Background Checks A Savior for the Future

Educators play an important role in shaping one’s future. Basically parents entrust their children to the teachers hoping that they will be molded as a good citizen and have a bright future.
In his Editorial page, Managing Editor Yvonne Mintz of The Facts (a newspaper in Brazoria Country, Texas), wrote an article entitled “ BISD made the right decision ( budgeting money for quality background checks) for our children.”
It’s been really alarming that a number of teachers are accused of child abuse and staff members are caught with their hands in the taxpayer and other illegal acts.
That’s why Brazos port ISD’s school board decided in voting to spend $14,620.00 annually to conduct a background check. Every school should implement such act to discourage any offenders to get involved in their school..
It’s not a matter of money but it is a matter of safety under the guidance of teachers. Why should we take the risk when we can do something? It is simply avoiding trouble for the child’s safety.
An applicant or a volunteer may not lay down the cards about their past. But through a thorough investigation such as a background check, we can screen potential teachers if they are really trustworthy or not.
The price may be hard to conduct a background check to any potential or current employee. But doing that can help us save ourselves from harm that may happen in the future. It is fearful to know that the shaper of the future can destroy the reputation of the school and damage the future of the child.
That’s why you should not hesitate to conduct a background check on your children’s educators. It’s worth the effort and your money.
